Berry Picking at Butler's Orchard in Germantown, MD

This week, Ben and I decided to go on a little adventure out into the country. Just a Mommy & Benji Day. We took a 45 minute road trip to Maryland to find us some berries to pick. Very, very, fun!

Ben is only pretending to eat a berry. He picked some with bugs on them so they definitely weren't going into his mouth until they got a good wash at home.

I thought I heard some giggling after I gave the camera to Ben and was deep in the bushes. When I plugged the pictures into the computer, this is what I found!

We also picked some flowers in the garden. Ben had fun putting a bouquet together.

Fourth of July!

This year, some friends of ours, from Salt Lake atually, were kind enough to use their D.C. connections and get us into the New Executive Building (next to the White House), to watch the fireworks! This would be the 3rd time we've seen D.C. fireworks and it was by far the best experience yet. We've seen them from the D.C. Mall, and from the Iwo Jima Memorial (both very cool places!) but you just can't top an air conditioned room with a bunch of treats! Thank you Ryan and Libby and friends!

Building in Secret

Ben has recently begun doing chores for spending money. The first item he purchased with his hard earned cash, (from vacumming with the dust buster to making his bed), was a Bionicle. When purchasing one, I found they were on sale and bought three for future earnings. I came home from the gym one morning at 8 am to find Ben in his closet assembling a yet unearned Bionicle. I was so impressed by his ability to assemble it, I just couldn't be upset but praised him for his mad skills and asked him not to do anything like that sneeky or in secret again:)
